Infant Massage Infant Massage

Massage Therapy can be done at any age. It has been proven that massage therapy can benefit infants in various ways:

o Helps increase healthy parent-infant interaction
o Increases awareness of infants' cues
o Helps the parent learn how to respond to baby's needs
o Helps baby feel increased trust and security when the contact is reassuring and pleasurable
o Provides a time of quiet focus
o Can relieve gas and colic
o Helps regulate sleep patterns
o Stimulates all of the physiological systems of the body (circulatory, nervous and gastrointestinal)
o Relieves stress through increased relaxation (for both infant and the parent)
o Helps to strengthen the immune system

The therapist will demonstrate the techniques of infant massage so the parent(s) can do it at home. Both parents are welcome to learn! The session will include how to use proper massage techniques, when and when not to massage the infant, touch relaxation (used when massage is too stimulating/sensitive for baby) and what kind of oil to use.
